21 Jul , 2015 Things To Do In London

Summer is here and London is the place to be this August. There’s a great line up of festivals, gigs and events throughout this month in the capital, and don’t forget there’s also the last Bank Holiday Monday of the year to celebrate! Here’s our top things to do in London this August to get you started….

Chill out and relax on the root terrace with Netil360’s resident DJ, Lou Franklin on Friday nights throughout August. Lou will be joined by Peter Buckenham, music aficionado, rare cuts selector, music journalist and owner of On The Corner Records. Together they will be playing various sets with something for everyone to enjoy from afro funk and disco, rare soul and anything in between.

Just A Little & Tremors present Global Rhythms @ Oval Space – 1 August

Topping the bill at the Oval Space on 1 August is one of the most revered selectors in the world – Gilles Peterson. Alongside will be Channel One who built up their reputation as one of the main sound systems at Notting Hill Carnival and also won the Red Bull Culture Clash twice. Auntie Flo and Romare who produce some of the finest African inspired house and techno will be there too. Rounding off you can see Werkha playing with his full live band.

Notting Hill Carnival – West London, W10

If you’re in London for the August Bank Holiday head over to Notting Hill for a vibrant celebration of music, movement and masquerade, together with Caribbean food stalls with delicious jerk chicken and fried plantain. The main parade is on Monday but there’s a host of warm up parties on the Saturday evening and carnival after parties on Sunday and Monday at clubs and venues around Notting Hill.

Pump Shoreditch – Shoreditch

If you want somewhere to eat this summer try the newly transformed Old Petrol Station on Shoreditch High Street… Yes, we’re serious. The vendors at Pump Shoreditch have moved in to create an all-day and (all-evening) outdoor street food dining experience.

Packed with innovative and delicious delicacies from Middle Eastern meats by Pulled by Moriscos, Mexican from Tacotitlan, crispy risotto balls from Don Arancini, Japanese inspired hotdogs from Japadog and, of course, Mark Hix‘s infamous Fish Dogs. You could eat something different each day for a solid week and a half, if you really wanted to (we know we do!)
